BA Threaded Rod (Imperial Allthreads)

BA (British Association) threaded rod is used in fine‑scale engineering applications where small diameters, precise adjustment and clean thread engagement are essential. Its fine pitch and shallow thread form make BA rod ideal for electrical equipment, instruments, model engineering, control panels and delicate mechanical assemblies. Fully threaded along its length, BA rod can be cut to size and used with standard BA nuts, washers and couplers.

Typical uses include instrument repair, electrical terminal assemblies, model engineering, laboratory equipment, and light‑duty mechanical fixtures. BA threaded rod remains a preferred choice wherever miniature imperial fasteners are required and compatibility with traditional British Association threads is important.

The BA thread system was introduced in 1903 by the British Association for the Advancement of Science as a standard for small‑diameter screws used in instruments and electrical equipment. Based on the Swiss Thury thread form, BA uses a 47.5° thread angle and a logarithmic pitch progression, giving excellent performance in precision assemblies. Although largely replaced by metric miniature threads in modern manufacturing, BA remains widely used in restoration, instrumentation and specialist engineering fields.
