Whitworth Imperial Allthreads

Whitworth (BSW) threaded rod is widely used in restoration, maintenance and heritage engineering where original imperial fasteners must be matched. Its coarse thread form provides strong engagement and reliable performance in timber, steelwork and older machinery. Fully threaded along its length, Whitworth rod can be cut to size and used with standard BSW nuts, washers and couplers.

Typical uses include suspending pipework and ducting, supporting cable trays, forming bracing assemblies, joining components and creating adjustable fixings. The Whitworth thread form was introduced in 1841 by Sir Joseph Whitworth and became the first nationally standardised screw thread in the world. Its 55° thread angle and rounded crests were designed for strength and ease of manufacture using the machinery of the time. Whitworth threads remained the dominant standard across British engineering and manufacturing well into the 20th century, and they continue to be used today in restoration, heritage machinery and traditional engineering applications.
