UNF (Unified Fine) threaded rod is used in applications requiring high clamping force, precise adjustment and strong resistance to vibration. Its finer pitch provides greater tensile strength and improved holding power in harder materials such as steel and alloy components. Fully threaded along its length, UNF rod can be cut to size and used with standard UNF nuts, washers and couplers.
Typical uses include automotive and motorsport assemblies, aerospace maintenance, machinery repair, instrumentation, and applications where fine adjustment or high preload is required. UNF threaded rod remains a preferred choice in precision engineering environments where Unified thread compatibility is essential.
The Unified Thread Standard (UTS), which includes UNF, was established in 1948 as a joint agreement between the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. UNF was developed to provide a fine‑pitch alternative to UNC, offering higher strength and better performance in hard metals. It remains widely used in automotive, aerospace and precision engineering industries where fine‑thread fasteners are standard practice.
